Taekwondo in Hood River

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art. The movements of Taekwon-do are dynamic and graceful. It is an excellent practice for training both the mind and body. Taekwon-do students use all parts of their body for defense and attack, with active movements and postures. Taekwon-do places emphasis on discipline and conduct as well.

The lessons BJJ impart are not just about fighting or martial arts. They extend to character and the mind. Bjj teaches the lesson of how to be confortable in an uncomfortable situation. It translates to areas where life becomes challenging and you must adjust. There are benefits of community and humility as well body awareness and self preservation. There are also tangible goals: Getting your black belt or simply being better than you were yesterday.

Aikido can be translated as "the Way of Harmony", and is a peaceful approach to the ancient Japanese Budo traditions. It teaches fluid movements based on balance and positioning. The Aikidoist learns to blend with an opponent's energy and redirect it to render an attacker helpless through off-balances, joint locks, and throws. Aikido is a non-competitive art, where students work only to better themselves rather than to conquer others.
