Aikido can be translated as "the Way of Harmony", and is a peaceful approach to the ancient Japanese Budo traditions. It teaches fluid movements based on balance and positioning.

The Aikidoist learns to blend with an opponent's energy and redirect it to render an attacker helpless through off-balances, joint locks, and throws. Aikido is a non-competitive art, where students work only to better themselves rather than to conquer others.
